Emanuel Mallia is a highly-accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in board secretarial functions, project management and financial operations. With a strong background in banking and finance, Emanuel has provided significant voluntary contributions to the MIICT. Throughout his career that centred mostly on Bank of Valletta Plc., he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a keen ability to drive organisational success through consistent hard work and customer-centricity.

With over a decade of experience as Board Secretary at the Institute of Research & Improvement in Social Sciences (IRISS) and Treasurer at the MIICT, Emanuel has been instrumental in managing multiple projects for the organisation. As a founding member, he played a crucial supporting role in the establishment of the institute, working diligently to ensure the smooth implementation of its objectives. Emanuel proactively manages project scope, ensuring that project objectives are consistently delivered within defined timelines and budgets. He also actively engages in decision support work endeavours. Emanuel’s dedication to project success is evident in his focus on defining and collecting metrics through project status reporting, enabling proactive identification and mitigation of potential risks.

Prior to his current role in the voluntary sector, Emanuel served as a Branch Manager at Bank of Valletta (BOV) Plc., a leading financial services provider in Malta as well as the Head of Secretariat of the Secretariat for Local Government under the Ministry of Justice, Culture and Local Government (MJCL). During his tenure at BOV, he successfully led business development efforts and built strong relationships with clients. Emanuel oversaw branch operations leading teams of up to 22 people, loan issuance and risk assessment, ensuring compliance with operational policies and procedures. His adeptness at translating business strategies into actionable plans helped drive growth and profitability for the branches he managed. Emanuel’s exceptional managerial skills were also evident in his supervision of a 22-strong team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Emanuel holds a Commerce Studies (Economics & Accounts) qualification from St. Aloysius College Sixth Form in Malta. He is a well-organised and results-focused professional with excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels. Emanuel’s organisational abilities, combined with his drive for success, make him thrive in roles that require strategic analysis, project management, and marketing coordination. He has also honed his technical skills through training in financial management, management verifications, and the provision of financial advice.
