CERES Event Sheds Light on the Future of Agriculture and Innovative Solutions

We are delighted to announce that the recent CERES event, held on 30 April 2023, was a resounding success insofar as it was the most-attended event throughout the Foggia 2023 International Agriculture and Livestock Fair. The event, the programme for which is available here, brought together experts and key stakeholders to discuss the state of the art in agriculture, in aquaculture and the role of innovative solutions, like Project CERES, in shaping the industry’s future.

The conference featured insightful presentations on a wide range of topics, including the value of agricultural supply chains, the potential of blockchain in agricultural product traceability, logistics and the integration of green, blue and circular economies. The role of logistics and transportation in the agri-industrial sector, as well as the importance of research, innovation, and technology in supporting regional and international growth, were also thoroughly explored.

The speakers hereunder delivered presentations on the following topics:

Carlo Russo, Agrismarter

  • Blockchain in the traceability of agricultural products.

Luca Grilli, University of Foggia

  • Upskill and reskill to integrate blue, green, and circular economy.

Michela Cariglia, AGAPE

  • The role of logistics and transport in the agro-industrial sector.

Pasquale Cataneo, Fast CONFSAL

  • Research, Innovation and technology with supporting solutions

Rossana Caputo, MIICT

Rossana Caputo’s presentation, delivered in her capacity as MIICT President and  Project CERES’s leader, related to the connection with the territory and internationalisation. It outlined the achievements of the the Project thus far, as well as the direction both in the short term and the long term.

The roundtable discussion, moderated by Prof. Giulio Mario Cappelletti, provided an excellent platform for dialogue among industry experts, policymakers, and representatives from various agricultural associations. The lively debate highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing the agricultural sector and emphasised the need for collaboration and innovation to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.

The proceeds of the conference have culminated in a set of interesting guidelines for subsequent social innovation actions.

The event concluded with an entertaining showcooking demonstration by Chef Francesco Panniello, showcasing the farm-to-table concept in practice and celebrating the importance of high-quality, traceable ingredients in creating delicious dishes.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the speakers, panelists and attendees for their valuable contributions and for making the CERES event a remarkable success. The discussions and insights shared during the event have undoubtedly set the stage for exciting developments in the world of agriculture and technology, and particularly in Project CERES.

Special thanks go to Gisella Naturale, Senator of the Italian Republic, and Vice-President of the ninth Agriculture Commission of Italy, who graced the panel with her presence. The MIICT also takes the opportunity to thank the distinguished Senator for embracing and supporting the evolution of Project CERES.
